After his military service, he spent over three decades as a commercial airline captain with Delta Airlines, where accountability, sound decision-making, and the safety of others were his daily responsibilities.

His leadership continued at the local level, where he served with distinction as the Mayor of San Marcos, helping to shape the city into a thriving, family-friendly community. Currently, as a San Diego County Supervisor, Jim Desmond has demonstrated bold and effective leadership—protecting our neighborhoods, advocating for law enforcement, supporting small businesses, and fighting for parental rights and educational excellence.
